Dr Lim retired on 31st December 2017 after 31 years with the Practice. He started as a trainee in 1986 in the old premises in Union Road and took the lead in planning and commissioning our current building which opened in 1991.

I am pleased to say that he will be staying on until mid February to help us out on Tuesdays and Thursdays until our new GP Dr May Hagerty who is currently a GP in Kersiebank Medical Practice starts in March 2018.

Help protect yourself against Shingles

Shingles can be a very painful nerve and skin condition and is more common among older people. There is now a vaccine that can reduce your chance of getting shingles, or, if you do get shingles it can reduce how long lasting or severe the symptoms can be.

If you are born between

02/09/1937 and 01/09/1941, or

02/09/1942 and 01/09/1947

you may be eligible for a shingles vaccine this year. Please call 622854 to book an appointment with the Practice Nurse. For more information please visit the website

Seasonal Flu Vaccinations

Our open access flu clinic was held on Tuesday 3rd October 2017. We are delighted that over 1000 patients attended on the day. We have offered 21 hours of additional flu clinics this year. If you still require a flu vaccination please call Reception on 622854.

Vitamin B12 Injections

Our Health Care Assistants are now trained in administering Vitamin B12 injections.

You should now book an appointment with a Health Care Assistant for your Vitamin B12 Injections at least 2 weeks in advance to ensure you get an appointment at the right time.

Unfortunately, Sr Conway our Nurse Practitioner will be off for a while.  We have arranged for Sr Muirhead to work additional sessions and two very experienced Practice Nurses will be here on Thursdays and Fridays to provide additional cover.  However, please be aware that in the next few months you may have to wait longer for a Practice Nurse appointment.

Shortage of Pneumococcal Vaccine

There is a current shortage of the Pneumococcal Vaccine which is likely to continue for the foreseeable future. When we receive stock of the vaccine we will send letters to eligible patients inviting them to make an appointment. We have been advised by Public Health to immunise patients throughout the year and not just during winter months. The vaccine for infants and toddlers is not affected.
